Purpose of Position: At Hexagon, our Quality Assurance staff are active, equal members of our Agile development teams. We partner with our teammates to assess, communicate, and improve the quality of our applications. We are committed to continuous improvement in our products, processes, and in ourselves. We build a vast array of applications, including: Desktop PCs High performance computing (HPC) clusters Web services and applications Embedded apps on custom hardware (we also build the hardware!) Requirements: Extreme attention to detail Excellent communication skills - flawless written, excellent verbal Strong time management, prioritization, and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain flexibility in different situations and adapt to change Ability to rapidly grasp technical solutions, concepts, and products Ability to learn and work creatively with complex engineering applications High level of personal drive and self-motivation Desire to expand own knowledge and skill set as well as sharing knowledge with other team members Responsibilities: Identify opportunities for automated testing Craft code to set up, run, and report on automated testing of our applications Advocate the use of automation to test our applications where appropriate Contribute to the implementation and improvement of automated testing frameworks As an integral part of an agile team, to write and run manuals tests as needed, write bug reports and verify bugs Contribute to the integration of our test automation frameworks with other tools, such as Jira, Testrail, and Bamboo Maintain baseline test environments and databases for required product versions and configurations Ensure test environments closely mirror end user's systems re: operating system, hardware configurations Create concise bug reports linked to automated test cases detecting defects Perform root cause analysis on test automation failures Participate in team activities, including task estimation, risk analysis, planning and retrospectives Seek, use and promote best practice methodologies & tools to deliver quality software releases Contribute to the continuous improvement of the software development process within the development team Ensure agreed practices are adhered to by the team Mentor Jr. staff Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of SDLC, including Agile methods Hands on experience with both black box and white (glass) box testing Test automation framework design, implementation, and integration Experience with testing / coding tools - Ranorex, Selenium, Cypress, Testrail, Jira, Git, Jenkins, or equivalents Knowledge and experience in manual testing Understanding of API functionality, language and tools Hands-on experience with high level languages such as Java, C++, Python, Ruby, C#, or Perl Bug creation / management / reporting Linux, servers and web experience Relational databases and SQL queries Risk analysis and mitigation strategies Understanding of networking setups, especially WiFi Nice to have: Experience with multiple operating systems - Linux, Unix, Windows, iOS, Android Experience with Hardware/Embedded testing Knowledge of or experience in the mining industry Experience: 2+ years experience working with Test Automation Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Math, Science or Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Travel: No travel required Join our team as a QA Engineer and make a significant impact on our clients' digital transformation initiatives.
