About the Role This is a remote contract-based role for 1 year with possibility of extension. Key Responsibilities: Develop AI-powered applications of backend services. Lead design and technology initiatives and mentor fellow developers. Collaborate with the development team and product managers to ideate software solutions. Design server-side architecture according to service-level objectives (SLOs) and design requirements. Participate in code reviews and help to guide software architecture decisions. Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications Test software to ensure responsiveness and efficiency. Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade software. Create security and data protection settings. Write technical documentation. Develop a flexible and well-structured backend architecture. Create servers and databases for functionality. See the project from conception to finished product. Meet both technical and consumer needs. Stay abreast of developments in backend applications and programming languages Must-Have Skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience (5+ years) in software development, with demonstrated experience working in backend settings. Proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, Express, and Python, along with experience in developing APIs and microservices. Familiarity with Cloud Web Services such as AWS Lambda, and S3, is essential Experience with relational and non-relational databases such as MySQL and DynamoDB, as well as knowledge of when to best apply each technology. In-depth understanding of software design principles, data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies, and familiarity with project management tools. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to approach complex technical challenges with creativity and innovation. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical concepts and project updates. Nice To Have Skills Experience with Frontend development and React Experience in Medtech or health tech space and some familiarity with compliance/regulations Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus. Previous experience working on AI-powered products and collaborating with data scientists or machine learning engineers Relevant certifications in AWS and cloud platforms Prior experience working with AI-based products and/or Machine Learning teams Familiarity with HIPAA, SOC-2 , and PCI compliance You are a conceptual thinker and ideator who can work with top-down vision or bottom-up requirements. Familiarity with ClickUp and/or other Agile work organization tools (Jira, Trello, Basecamp, Rally) Previous experience or proven interest (courses, workshops, seminars, personal projects) in data pipelines for AI, NLP, or ML.
